The latest wave of one step Transformers from the Cyberverse line is hitting retail across North America and fellow Seibertronian Chuck Dawg has reviews of the three new molds, Optimus Prime, Megatron and Starscream, for anyone interested.

chuckdawg1999 wrote:I've always been a fan of the One-Step style figures so when we saw that there would be G1-ish styled figures released in the Cyberverse line I was quite pleased. Well, for one reason or another these have been somewhat hard to find in certain areas but I got lucky and am VERY happy to bring them to you now. If you're going to buy one, Starscream is my personal favorite, but all of them would make for great desk toys.

I reviewed these a month ago, posted it here and now they have disappeared from the site. That's messed up why would the video thread been deleted especially if they are new?

But yeah they are totally fun. I agree with Chuck these ones steps are great

This is very bizarre, could you please report your problem in the problem reporting thread: seibertron-com-problem-reporting-thread-t216.php

Also, if ever you post a new review and want to bring it to our attention, please send a link (just like you reported for Hot Rod)

Funny thing, a viewer pointed out that these three figures have something in common, they're all retools of Megatron related movie toys.

If you recall, we posted a news article on the Transformers Cyberverse Battle Base Trailer with Warrior Class Optimus Prime sightings in U.S. retail. And now, we have an English review of it! Coming from the YouTube reviewer "Bert the Stormtrooper" made a video review on both Warrior Class Optimus Prime and the Battle Base Trailer. He actually had a good time with the set, specifically the trailer, and how it looked. For those who don't know, the set includes a straight re-release of the Cyberverse Warrior Optimus Prime, with the axe gimmick, and a completely new trailer meant to hold figures as a playset.

Watch the review below, and make a judgement of the set, and tell us in the Pub forums below!

The Cyberverse toys are shaping up to be a lot of fun for the 6-10 year old demographic. I think that the trailers playability is AWESOME. I wish I could just get the trailer and bypass that Prime. I haven't bought any of the Cyberverse toys, but I'm glad there is something for the kids.

I received one of these sets as a Christmas gift yesterday. I actually enjoyed the trailer more than I did Optimus himself.

You've got to love it when Amazon tries to be coy by sticking with code names while giving us a full look at the figure. That doesn't seem to be changing any time soon, the latest cases being our first look at stock photos of two Cyberverse Scouts on Amazon.com.au. This time around it's Ratchet under the name "Aces" and Shadow Striker under the name "Rockhounds". We got a look at these two in bot mode at New York Comic Con and later we got CG pictures, but this is our first look at both modes of the actual figures.

These are basically what you'd expect from the Scout class; barely acceptable bot modes and half an alt mode with an action feature. Ratchet's "Grapple Grab" is a crane that swings up over his shoulder. Shadow Striker's "Stealth Sniper Shot" isn't a shot at all, but rockets that come out of the back of her "car" mode. Because of her feature being in the back we've yet to actually see any pictures of her alt mode from the front as the rockets have been the focus.

I'm likely to buy Shadow Striker, depending on the size of her head, because it's definitely not for the toy itself. I like the character, being that she's a femcon with a sports car alt mode, but I'm thinking a Transformers Prime Deluxe Vehicon that actually transforms would make for a better Shadow Striker in my CHUG collection. I just have to find a suitable Shadow Striker head to put in place of the Vehicon's.

Interesting that Cyberverse Shadow Striker's head looks to be based more on the original Side Burn (AKA Speedbreaker) head..

It's kinda disheartening to see how close Shadowstriker is to actually having a proper alt mode. A backpack and a flip up chest would have done it for her.

These half-formers really needed more thought

Instead, she has a rocket-powered, ground-based, rolling skydiver mode. :P

If you did not know yet, the entire Cyberverse toyline is based around gimmicks. We knew Soundwave would have a Laserbeak gimmick but we never really got a good look at it. It turns out Lazerbeak will be made of clear red plastic and a third of his body (before you get to the wings) will be popping out of Soundwave's chest. This is for the Warrior Soundwave toy. We also have images of Warriors Prowl and Hot Rod as well as Ultimate Bumblebee and One Steps Megatron, Bumblebee and Prowl. While we did just get a One Step Cyberverse Megatron, this one has a new transformation and a missile firing gimmick.

Enjoy all the pics below, which were found on Hasbro's site.

It looks like Laserbeak put on some weight and got his big butt stuck inside Soundwave. Looking less like a condor and more like a chicken. Time for a New Year's resolution diet to get rid of that excess badonkadonk.

Yea, and looks like a skinned raw chicken is coming out of the oven.

Was gonna say the same thing. Is that Soundwave's new alt-mode now? An oven? Eh, still probably a better alt-mode than a tape-deck these days since most folk still use ovens.

These toys... they look pretty lousy. I dunno. Maybe they're more fun to play with than look at. One step and flip and change thingies were pretty poor looking but I could understand the quick transform appeal for younger folk.

Warriors look OK, nothing exciting. Ultimate Bumblebee would be pretty nice if not for the gimmick taking over his arm.

BTW, been playing around with Ultimate Optimus and he really isn't a terrible figure. He isn't a particularly good figure, but he does have some interesting features that he probably didn't have to have like the folding panels on his shoulders and the panel under his feat that forms the sides of the truck. Plus he has a TON of paint on the cab. His chest doors are clear blue and mostly painted over along with large spring-loaded portion of the top of the truck. All for the sake of having clear windows. I also like the atypical leg transformation so his toes aren't sticking out the back. I'm sure we've seen that before, but I can't think when. And I'm digging the low profile truck mode, it's wide and low. Shame the gimmick is annoying as all hell and likes to pop out if you accidentally hit the button or just barely tap the top of the truck. Still, if you like the cartoon and can find one on sale then go for it.

Ha, jeez and thanks. I can't keep track of all these toys. Guess you newsies need to do a "all the Soundwave toys of 2019" article ;)

I remember seeing the pop-o-matic chest minion gimmick somewhere and thought it was cool and fitting of the character and the line wide gimmick. Both Cyberverse and the Bee toys have very fun toy gimmicks.

Whelp, I guess that's two C-list Soundwaves I'll be considering 8-}

They are meant for an even younger audience than the R.i.D. toys so don't complain. They are not meant for you ;)
Just get the Generations toys.

Me too. Some if those transformarions and designs were more originsl than what we were getting in the generations line. What I find crazy is that its the same Hasbro team behind both toylines.

Warrior Windblade and Ultra Shockwave show some signs of being from the same team at least. Ultimate Optimus Prime isn't terrible, he feels a lot like a Cyber Battalion figure and worth picking up if you can get him on sale. Ultra Grimlock isn't great, but I do like his clever transformation and T-rex mode.

Happy hunting folks!

Our old pal chuckdawg1999 comes through with a new review of the Cyberverse Ultra Class Slipstream toy. This is her first figure that isn't a redeco and can actually transform completely! Wow! Chuck clearly enjoys the figure very much, putting it right under Ultra Class Shockwave. The Slipstream toy itslef has a more complex transformation than other figures, and has an interesting Action Attack: when squeezing the null rays, a rotor blade spins out behind the figure!

Chuck himself says:
chuckdawg1999 wrote:Ultra Class Slipstream is a good figure. While not overly articulated it does enough to have a fair amount of play value. The action gimmick is relatively unobtrusive and fun, while the transformation is surprisingly involved for a simplified figure. Overall I feel this is worth a look if not a purchase.

So thought's on this figure? Watch the video below and tell us your thoughts in the Pub forums below!
