While the United States was the first to see any Power of the Primes figures at retail, they seem to be spreading out to retail in various parts of the world, as evidenced by the recent finding of the line in Singapore and then in Canada. Now, we can add Malaysia to that list! Seibertronian Jasmon has sent us pictures of his haul, found at a ToysЯUs at Queensbay Mall in Bayan Lepas, Malaysia. Jasmon found the Dinobots Grimlock, Swoop and Slag Slug at the price of R149.90 and R89.90, respectively, which works out to US $36.75 and $22.04. He also sent us some in-hand pictures of the trio!

Still no Leader Rodimus Prime or Optimus Prime to be seen, though. If you find those figures, please shoot us an email at sightings@seibertron.com, and be sure to list your own sightings on our sightings page and in your local sightings forums to help out your fellow collectors. Happy hunting, everyone!

I think one major thing that lacks (IMO) in the TR Hot Rod figure is a real view of his spoiler wings when in robot mode due to his brawny shoulders. At least with the Classics figure you didn't have this problem and it doesn't seem to show on the POTP figure. ;)^ :VEHI:

I hear ya, plus the coloration on PoTP Rodimus is better. I have the TR Hot Rod but I'll happily grab up the PoTP one too. I like most of the PoTP figures I've seen so far except for Windcharger and Starscream (why in Primus' name did they make him SO hideous?!). My Wal-Mart currently has the Legends class figures, but no sign of the Deluxes or Voyagers at Wal-Mart or the 2 Targets in my area.

We don't know for sure. Back at NYCC he only had SG Autobot symbols.

I'm still hoping there's a sticker sheet included so we can choose a faction for ourselves. Personally I'd rather he only have SG symboles, not because of any love for SG (only one I've got is the SS Deluxe Starscream), but because it makes more sense to me that as an Autobot tainted by Unicron he wouldn't instantly side with the Decepticons. If he comes with a Unicron faction sticker then I might just go with that instead.

John Warden denied his being SG Rodimus the Character at NYCC. His on-package bio states him to be the Heroic Autobot Hot Rod having been turned evil by Unicron's Matrix of Chaos, so he is an Evil Autobot but not of the otherworldy Shatteredverse kind. Rather, he's an Evil Autobot native to the normal Heroic Autobots/Evil Decepticons universe after having essentially been tainted by Robo-Satan. :P

And since Unicron is not actually a Decepticon himself, being an unaligned evil on his own, greater than the evil of the Decepticons, there really isn't any reason for Unicron to be obligated to change Hot Rod's insignia into being that of the lesser evil faction that Unicron is not a part of. So Unicron would simply just change Hot Rod's colors (while re-styling his flames for kicks, apparently) without needing to bother messing with Hot Rod's original faction insignia.

Now, of course, the packaging will still label Rodimus Unicronus as an Evil Decepticon for marketing purposes since that's what Hasbro does (even all of Unicron's toys since the Cybertron Deluxe get packaged as Evil Decepticons for the same reason despite Unicron being his own evil), but that's all just real-world marketing in the end.

:PEACE:

Picked up Slash and beachcomber today.

Beachcomber is mediocre, his stubby legs aren't so great, and being beachcomber knocks some points off also

Slash, however, is an absolute delight. While I personally prefer my fembots to be more feminine (more like fansprojects echara), she's quite great as a figure despite. I think it would have really helped if they could have found a way to attach the raptor arms to her thighs, but she's tons of fun.

Yeah, this is just another case like Energon Downshift being based on G1 Wheeljack (even being named "Wheeljack" in Super Link) without actually being G1 Wheeljack.

I think it should just be a purple Autobot symbol, since SG Decepticons are red.

Ever since 2007, when Hasbro changed the style of the Autobot and Decepticon logos for the live action films, these slightly different symbols have been found on non movie toys, like certain versions of Masterpiece Skywarp, which can be seen below.
More than that, it seems both symbols are used interchangeably at times in the assembly line when it comes to tampographs. As can be seen in the image of Generations Payload, one has the G1 autobot insignia (with larger eyes) while the other has the movie version of the insignia. This difference creates variants in the market.
We now have a new victim in the Power of the Primes line with legends Slash. Even amongst toys found in the very same case, Slash has been found with both a G1 and Movie version of the autobot insignia. There are images below to show the comparison. From in hand images of the figure found online, it seems the version with the movie insignia is the rarer of the two.
It is currently unknown if Slash is the only one to have insignia variants such as these in Power of the Primes so check our toys and get back to us if you see that yours is using the wrong insignia.

Something I forgot to mention, but did cross my mind earlier: My local Toys R Us had whole racks filled with discount Blitzwing. While I don't intended to do so (too costly and too long) it occured to me this would certainly make for some impressive army-building for some Overcharge-type Terrorbots.

Not gonna happen but you gotta admit that army-building voyagers would have certainly been the stuff of madness!

However, this got me thinking if PotP will have any army-builder-type Legends class.

We had seen some new Power of the Primes artwork three months ago with no idea as to where it would be found or what it was done for. We knew it wasn't the box art nor for cards since this artwork had several characters rather than just the one. As it turns out, that new artwork was meant for the in store displays. This was not obvious at first since it is only found on the sides of a black cardboard center aisle display which Walmart tends to cover up when forming center aisle squares (which you can see in the first image below).

However, your intrepid editor used all his might and pushed aside the neighboring cardboard shelving to see the artwork on the sides. One side features Optimus Primal while the other features Optimus Prime and both are surrounded by Prime Masters. So far, these displays have only been found in Canada where all wave one legends, deluxe and voyager class toys from Power of the Primes have been found for $12.97, $19.97, and $29.97 respectively. What is odd is that this is unlike the circular in store display Hasbro previously showed that they had designed specifically for this line.

A really cool aspect of this artwork are the 15 Prime symbols found at the edge. Yes, you read that right, 15. We only know the first twelve, which Jelze GoldRabbit list below:

JelZe GoldRabbit wrote:From top to bottom, they are:

Megatronus
Vector Prime
Prima
Alchemist Prime
Quintus Prime
Amalgamous Prime
Nexus Prime
Solus Prime
Onyx Prime
Liege Maximo
Micronus
Alpha Trion

... and the last three are unknown for now. I do suspect the bottom one is for The Arisen as it looks like the face of Optimus Prime.

I've already got my Insecticon swarm completed. I army built "Skrapnel" back during the Thrilling 30 line, so, like TR Cosmos, this reissue does little for me. That makes me wonder, though, how Hasbro is choosing these reissues of late. I can understand Cosmos, as he was a bit hard to find initially in the Trilling 30 line, but I think that cleared up later in the year after he and his wave mate Swerve finally started showing up outside of East Asian retail.

If I had to pick a "rare" release from that time frame that fans need to complete their Minibot collections, I'd have gone with Gears. I think the only one I saw in stores was the one I bought. Same with his wave mate Acid Storm. Skrapnel wasn't hard to find either, hence my ability to army build him without difficulty. These are just weird choices.

If Hasbro needed to pad the line with figures that are already tooled from years past to save money, why not throw in the TR repaints of Rumble and Rewind as Frenzy and Eject. Fans WANT these badly! They don't have to make any new tooling, and Hasbro is obviously willing to change up plastic colors and paint apps, given that the reissues of Cosmos and Skrapnel are slightly different in coloring from their original Thrilling 30 versions. As a bonus, the Rumble and Rewind molds are already Prime Master compatible, since they use the same basic interfaces with the Titan Master figures with which they were originally designed to interact. Cosmos and Skrapnel have no interactivity in this regard, making their reissues stand out even more in toy lines purposely designed for cross size class play. It's just baffling, honestly.

Ok, that's where the whole "15 Prime symbols" came from...

From top to bottom, they are:

Megatronus
Vector Prime
Prima
Alchemist Prime
Quintus Prime
Amalgamous Prime
Nexus Prime
Solus Prime
Onyx Prime
Liege Maximo
Micronus
Alpha Trion

... and the last three are unknown for now. I do suspect the bottom one is for The Arisen as it looks like the face of Optimus Prime.

We have some pretty big news for UK Transformers fans thanks to ToyBoxSoapBox over on twitter! English toy retailer Smyths has just put up listings for the Transformers Power of the Primes wave 1 Voyager class figures! Yes, two new listings for Voyager Grimlock and Starscream have cropped up, and, while currently out of stock, do offer up some new stock photos! These photos are a much better representation of the new figures than the traditional Hasbro photography. Check out a couple mirrored below, and then check out the rest over on the Smyths Website!

Guys, I have some bad news. I just bought all of wave 1 aside from the Primes Masters and Leaders and that Grimlock is probably the worst figure. He is a great big piece of shit that wont stay tabbed in and with ugly ass gaps. The other two deluxe dinobots I have dont suffer much from the added combiner gimmick but Grimlock does, A LOT.

Probably not. The first one only vaguely looks like a Matrix, I feel like Hasbro would have gone for something a little more on the nose and easily recognized as a Matrix. The second one I would think it was an Enigma it would have five points to represent the five members instead of six.

I'm probably wrong, but I'm going with the top being Primus and the bottom being Unicron. The first one reminds me of the circular formations on the surface of Cybertron while the second reminds me of Unicron's planet jaws as seen in G1 (not the clamping jaws from the Unicron Trilogy).

The images mirrored below are courtesy of regular news source Tf-factory on social media platform Weibo, and show a number of upcoming figures, or rather, their packaging, from Transformers Power of the Primes. Specifically, we have the bios and back of Voyagers Elita-1, Inferno and Hun Gurr, plus Deluxe Moonracer
and, in a surprising twist in the books, we have a new small teaser of a figure not previously known to make its appearance - character or mold - in the toyline: the back of packaging card for a Decepticon Blast Off, which looks suspiciously similar to the Takara Tomy version of the character in the Unite Warriors release for Bruticus (the Japanese version of Combiner Wars).

Take a look at all of them below, and let us know what you think of the surprising find amidst all the known upcoming waves of combiner figures, in this final chapter of the Prime Wars Trilogy toylines.

I ended up getting blast off online months ago but this weekend but this weekend while looking at him I thought power of the Primes would be a line they could release him. Maybe a slight toning of the chest to put the armor gimmick on and a new hand and he’d pass as a figure for it. Like I said while I do the takara one I don’t like his colors at all and if Hasbro releases him with the dark brown and purple I’ll get it.

To me it is either fake, or an indication that shuttle Blast Off is not going to be a regular release. May Mayhem or part of a box set perhaps? The multiple languages make me think it is for some type of special release where they can use the same packaging everywhere.

Hopefully Will just got a crappy pull from the QC lottery, but then again, grimlock is an entire thread worth of questionable design choices to begin with (why are the combiner ports on the outside of the feet when they could easily be hid on the inside of the feet and be invisible in dino mode? why was the chest molding split on the Y axis instead of the X axis? where is his crown? starscream gets one and hes not king, grimlock is king! why am I still going to buy this figure, despite all its flaws and already having the silver knight 2-pack grimlock, which frankly does fine as a g1 grimlock?)

Thinking Blast Off is a store exclusive. Packaging reminds me off Groove's, but I don't have a spare Groove to compare (and at work). Blast Off's inclusion in a post other figures we know about lends to the likelihood this is similar to previous exclusive released such as Groove and previous CW members.

Blastoff! Finally! Curious to see if they reminded his HFG into prime armor. Also it looks like he comes with a special edition megatronus? He's the only PM on blastoff's packaging and seems to be cast in different-colored plastic than on the other boxes.

EDIT: Megatronus also suggests the image isn't fake. Molding looks identical between pictures, and when have we ever seen him at that angle?

Qc isnt really the issue here (aside from maybe the tabbing), its just a poor ass design.

Yeah, there's no cross-sell or even a POTP logo on his.

Which means its not part of POTP but a single release outside the line. It makes sense to finally release him now since we are back in combiners.

No.

I'm so glad for that picture as well. I thought I was going crazy when I posted about the 15 symbols a while back and nobody believed me.

Also, I find obviously mileage on individual figures varies. I've been fortunate not to have many of the QC issues people are reporting. A couple reviews I've seen for Grimlock are surprisingly favorable. Not that I should suggest you purchase multiple toys, but Hasbro Customer Service may want to compensate anyone who is genuinely unsatisfied with the product they purchased.

To me it is either fake, or an indication that shuttle Blast Off is not going to be a regular release. May Mayhem or part of a box set perhaps? The multiple languages make me think it is for some type of special release where they can use the same packaging everywhere.

First of all - I DID IT!!!

I mean... I know it wasn't actually me... But I did make a directed request for this on Twitter. It would appear I will be getting EXACTLY what I asked for becauuuuuse -

Secondly, the packaging doesn't look fake, but rather, it looks like Skrapnel's packaging. Which MEANS it probably has the Hand-foot-gun and no Prime Master compatibility.

I have hope.

This Blastoff intrigues me a bit. If it's fake, then so be it, I've got my UW one. If it isn't however, I'm sure this will please many fans eager to get the single release. I myself however *may* also obtain one if I find the QC issues are fixed. The original release UW Blastoff's head pops off every time it's transformed, and the bottom section doesn't stay tabbed in when in arm mode. This was all fixed with UW Strafe that used the same mold. Not sure about Shuttler as I don't have Baldigus yet...

But if the color scheme is noticeably different and the QC issues fixed...and its not a hoax... :-? Still I'm holding out hope for other new deluxes down the line to fill out the Voyager Torso's revealed far. I now many people are speculating that these are all just extra Voyagers, but I still remain cautiously optimistic.
