Whereas the blueprints and the model of the Solar Power Tower are from 'The Master Builders':
MP-35 Grapple also comes with additional faces, as well as additional bumpers, much like Inferno, and a miniature model of the Solar Power Tower. So check out the images, and let us know what you think of him in the comments below.

I wholeheartedly agree Seibs. The legs looks tons better with detailing on Grapple's legs.

Completely agree. I know everyone has a slightly different take on what the Masterpiece series means to them, but to me, Masterpiece wasn't just making a high-quality representation of the characters; it was about bringing them to life in a way that mass-retail toys just can't, including the addition of details that weren't there in the cartoon or on the original toys but make them "pop" and feel more real.
With Inferno and Grapple on the way, my mind turns to the next figures. Surely Hoist and Trailbreaker have to be coming in the next year or so, right? One retools into the other with plenty of possibilities for Diaclone recolors.

I imagine so, since at least two third party companies are working on that pair.

Now he's the mp I'm looking forward the most to!
I have my original g1 toy and an encore. Found the generations edition a bit lacking. I wouldn't be surprised if hasbro releases a new generations version of grapple and inferno... They seem to have changed their design philosophy and are homaging the original toys more...

Hey, how come no one mentioned Megatron in their wishlist here?
I still think this is pretty amazing:
No other Grapple figure has this feature. It paid off to omit the crane from his robot mode 30 something years ago.

'Auto Berzerk', on the other hand, was one I never saw until Generation 2, after I'd read most of the US comic...so he'll have the orange helmet on 99% of the time in my collection. He'll mostly don the black helmet if called on to build Marvel Omega Supreme...whose MP and/or Titan toy is at least 2 years down the road.

Why were you expecting detail with TT's new 'no detail, smooth panels only' design direction for the MP line

I don't expect that either because they haven't consistently done that yet. Way too many examples of them not doing this, in particular with the licensed vehicle based Masterpiece figures.

And if the point of the MP line is show-accuracy, making up extra details that weren't there defeats the purpose.Seibertron wrote:Hellscream9999 wrote:Ironhidensh wrote:Man, thus is one mold where Takara really failed to outdo the 3Rd party version. I'll take these official extra gadgets over a slightly gaudier sculpt any day. Finally, a toy with an official "generic Sunbow overhead claw", used to grab rocks by Seekers, Cobra, and Robotix (and others currently slipping my mind) when not attached to Grapple! Heck, once I've got the real deal, I'd be tempted to stock up on KOs just to get more of that claw, so my MP jets can grab that meteorite from "War of the Dinobots". (my foil ball)

I just realized that Hauler in that pic is drawn like Grapple's altmode's cartoon model but with Hauler's cartoon cab (and obviously colored in his toy deco), so if Takara were to ever do a MP Roadhauler, this could give us an idea of how they'd do it (retooled cartoon-accurate cab w/ green toy deco).

Just for clarification, it's not a comic with the Unite Warriors sets. The page you see is literally all you get, which is on the back cover of the instructions booklet that comes with the Unite Warrior sets. Less a comic and more a fantasy situation depicting the toys from the set along with other relevant characters (human or Transformers) or plot devices from the G1 cartoon series. The Legends figures come with a 2 page comic that are also part of their instructions.

Which themselves are a spin off of a webcomic series iirc.Seibertron wrote: The Legends figures come with a 2 page comic that are also part of their instructions.

In a way, yes. The webcomic and pack-in comic are intertwined with one another, with the webcomic containing prologues and epilogues for the events of each pack-in comic, as well as additional plots spread out in between each pack-in comic. Essentially, the webcomic tells the main ongoing story, but also directs itself to set up placements for each pack-in comic to slot in between certain chapters of the webcomic, to make a complete narrative whole across both the online and physical chapters.ScottyP wrote:Which themselves are a spin off of a webcomic series iirc.Seibertron wrote: The Legends figures come with a 2 page comic that are also part of their instructions.

Their wheels are positioned differently in their torso as per their model sheets.
Grapple has extra parts and details on the back of his legs because the designer of his model cel had worked from a photo and mistook the crane for part of the legs.
The disks on their arms are in different places.

Wow, those are some nice little differences that they didn't necessarily needed to include, but I'm really glad they did

The parts that MP-33 Inferno & MP-35 Grapple have in common:

with MP-10 Optimus Prime & MP-20 Wheeljack. He looks to be about the height of Ironhide. We also see shots of all his faces and magical back shots of both him and Inferno.
We also see something really cool. It's as if Takara has been reading our boards and noticing how much we like to disect these toys and how much new tooling there is. So they pulled down the veil and showed us how the burgers are made with a three dimensional mapping of all the parts shared between the two toys. Enjoy!

Itscramtastic, your display discriminates against S2 characters??
Posted by galvatron00 on September 23rd, 2016 @ 10:51am CDT
Short answer, yes. I have no real attachment to G1 Season 2, and not many toys from that season either! Two many episodes maybe?! I really pick and choose what I watch from that season..Cyberpath wrote:itscramtastic, your display discriminates against S2 characters??
THAT SAID!!
One of my fav episodes was The Master Builders, but I'd still never buy Hoist The only Grapferno figure I've ever had was Solar Storm Grappel (misspelled on purpose like the box!) from the Reveal the Shield line. He made his way to Cobotron when I first started selling off figures. I wouldn't mind this guy as his replacement (but I'd rather have Hauler)!!

Too many episodes?? More like not enough! S2 was the most iconic!
You'd rather have a "made-up" character over someone who appeared on the show? Just when you think you know a guy.
The Master Builders is amazing.
Hey Takara, you were brilliant folding the ladder and crane into their backs, maybe you can come up with a magic solution to my limited shelf space? Not that I'm complaining!

Hauler was there man!! Cliffjumper didn't yell at him to pull Hound up if he was made up!! Where'd he go after that though?! The same place Ratchet's medical platform went, right into an MP release 32 years later!!
Can you imagine if Takara release display stuff with collectors in mind?! I'd have no money ever again.
Back to Grapple..if I get one of the two it's him. I may start allocating funds!!
