Thanks to Seibertron member Sabrblade we learn that Hellwarp is a Skywarpish homage to Beast Wars II Hellscream, an upgraded cybernetic shark form of Starscream. Roadbuster is a homage to Energon Ironhide who was called Roadbuster in the Japanese version of Energon, Transformers Super Link.
Check out our galleries of Energon Ironhide and Beast Wars II Hellscream to see how the homages compare.

And my God! I thought Brawn was a lame homage to a D-list character among great repaints of A-list characters like Optimus, Rodimus, Megatron, Starscream, and Shockwave. Energon Ironhide? One of the most reviled toys and characters in Transformers history.

Also the article left out that Hellwarp is a Skywarp homage more than it is a Hellscream homage.

Also, this gives me an excuse to get this mold and still buy Fansproject's Roadbuster. And Recoiler and Riftshot whilst I'm at it.
(As for why this character is getting a homage, remember that Superlink was a lot less painful in Japanese- the animation still sucked and the plot was still kinda dull and overlong, but AFAIK the voice acting was decent and the dialogue actually made sense. Also I don't think Roadbuster/Ironhide was anywhere near as annoying in Japanese as he was in the dub- similar case to Chibi-Usa from Sailor Moon and poor, poor Shinji Ikari from Evangelion.)
As for Hellwarp? Weird, but I do like it. I'd love to get the Hellscream mold some day, so maybe when I have him and RID Sky-Byte I'll get this and have a trio of "Shark Seekers".

It's a little bit of both actually. you'll understand the colors chosen a bit more once you see Hellscream's original form:
BWII Starscream's colors happen to be close to G1 Skywarp's colors (by coincidence, as it was originally meant for G2). So in a sense we have a Hellscream in his original Jet colors, which can double as a Skywarp homage, hence the name. Just be open-minded about the purple, it's such a hard color to get right.
And I'm calling it now: Cloud Roadbuster repurposed as SG Roadbuster

I'm thinking the connection to BWII Starscream's colors are a bit more coincidental, with the whole warp part of the name. Granted the Hell part is clearly drawing the connection to Hellscream (who was BWII Starscream and all that). So it's a Skywarp homage in color scheme and name, but the naming convention follows suit with Hellscream. Kind of like how when Hot Rod was upgraded into Rodimus Prime. He's an updated Hot Rod following the Optimus Prime naming convention, more than an homage to Optimus Prime.

Yeah, that's what I was going for when I first mentioned it. Guy with a Seeker name (Skywarp) gets a shark form that has the first part of his name replaced with "Hell" while keeping the same part of the name (Hellwarp).Powered Convoy wrote:JelZe GoldRabbit wrote:Powered Convoy wrote:No new tooling on Roadbuster.

Most should agree it's Lugnuts aka Road Storm.
Note: Blurzz was talking abut this guy, SG Treadshot:
Based on Armada Sideswipe, as Universe 2003 Treadshot was a repaint of him. No relation to G1 Treadshot.

He was the same as the US version. So they weren't going to repeat the same toy again. Just as Classics Astrotrain appeared as Cloud Astrotrain.

Hellwarp is cool, but not sure if it's something I'm into. I've been kinda pining for a Beast Wars II Starscream to beef up my Starscream display, and was hoping it was an updated version of his Hellscream form. Oh well... no harm done.

i would definitely pay for a 2015 Classics Energon Ironhide. oh and Mindmaster I like your East cybertron Trading Co. picture They need Official Redecos and names though the white colored Hot Shot could be Tailgate

Hellwarp?! I'm sorry, but the deco looks nothing like Hellscream. I get the idea of making a fusion between Hellscream's design and his previous color scheme of Starscream, but this is just silly looking.

The news post description is wrong. It misinterpreted what I said. The name is a homage to Hellscream, but the concept is "Skywarp as a shark".Madeus Prime wrote:Hellwarp?! He also kinda has the same colors as Starscream before he became Hellscream (not the G1 Starscream but the beast wars 2 Starscream)

By coincidence. The intent of this being "shark Seeker = Hell prefix" is obvious. Had it been Thundercracker's colors instead, the toy's name likely would have been "Hellcracker".mirageandjazz1197 wrote:Sabrblade wrote:The news post description is wrong. After all, none of the Cloud toys are the same characters as those they homage, all being unique iterations of those characters. Hellwarp is just another iteration of Skywarp.

And now the emotion range of best character in the unicron saga

Yes, he does. As I said:

I mean that I really can't stand the deco on this guy.

Ah, gotcha.
I get the idea of this Cloud line, but I just think in some cases they've hit gold (Cloud Rodimus being an example) and others they've hit a sewage line (Megatron, sorry, but he looks awful IMHO)

If you would be so kind, Hasbro, I would totally buy a Roadbuster figure repainted/molded into Crosshairs. We need more CHUG Targetmasters.

True, but they would have made him look different than the same BH figure released in America. As each figure in Cloud either has a significantly different color scheme (except for Optimus) or the figure is released as an entirely different character than the other uses of the mold (or both). Magnus didn't fit that criteria. Plus it seems they're keeping with the G1 styling (despite how Magnus appeared in the comics).
Now if it was Magnus from a different mold that wasn't Magnus already, or something else from that Magnus mold, that'd seem more likely (even without Magnus getting a Japanese release).
