I felt that too

On another note judging by that head and arm design I'm calling it now, Drift is a rebuilt/upgraded version of Sideswipe.

As expected, I have no interest in Bumblebee or Grimlock. I'm REALLY liking Strongarm's toy, and Steeljaw is interesting, but poorly executed since it can't seem to stand up without having to balance on it's tail.

It doesn't look to bad otherwise and it's legs don't really even look that bad. They're just big enough to make you think that maybe they're there for transformational purposes like Classics Sideswipe/Sunstreaker. I like the colors as we don't seem to get orange Transformers too often. It's color also allows one to display this Drift next to an AOE Drift and Generations Drift without a problem of them all looking alike.
I don't have specific shelves and when I display my figures, it's just a mashup of a bunch of different figures that I like regardless of toyline/continuity. So I would be displaying this, if/when I get it, with other Drifts at the same time. Hey, there's a few million people with my first name, and even hundreds with my first AND last names, so why can't Transformers share names too right? So to me, three drifts can exist at the same time and so can a "G1ish" Grimlock with the dreaded RID Constructibot Grimlock and the new RID Grimlock.

A shame as I really do like the character design. Oh well.

G1 Drift?
I thought he was referring to Grimlock when I read that.

"Counts as" maybe? The way I am reading it, it's as if he doesnt have a Generations Drift and was hoping for a place holder.

so sorry. I haven't been clear in my posts. I forget that there is a whole bunch of others things we are talking about here.
I meant to say "counts as" as in, I was hoping I could get him to "count as" G1 Drift but this Drift is too different for my tastes. I like him though. He'd make a cool Yoketron or maybe even Banzai-tron. In fact, he is going to be my Yoketron I think.

But if there's already a passible G1 Drift toy in the Generations figure, what good would this one be as another?Optimizzy wrote:Sabrblade wrote:Could be a what?Optimizzy wrote:I do want to clarify that I'm not complaining about the scheme. Generations Drift is the one I'd prefer...but he's a bit pricey for me at the moment. That is why I'd like to find one at retail that I could agree with aesthetically.

I avtually don't like Gen. Drift. He's too blocky, which and of itself is fine but it restricts posability severly. Yhe figure doesnt look like someone who would be light on theor feet with a sword.
The movie fig is thicktoo, but he's got more range of movement and the bulk is more evenly distributed.

*sighs* I've yet to find a single figure from this line that has impressed me enough to buy them. They've come and gone on Amazon about three times and not once did I try and buy them. I watched the video review for Grimlock and found it to be a nice figure, but ridiculously small. Bumblebee is taller than Grimmy, for goodness sake.

Transformers Robots In Disguise Warrior Class Bumblebee, courtesy of fellow fan AirspeedPrime.
In it he showcases the new packaging, size comparisons and of course, the transformation. Is Bumblebee worth your money? Watch the video review to find out and when you're done, come on back to the forums and share your thoughts!

Found on Smyths website. Looks like Drift. Was he revealed already?
Thanks for sharing this with us. Can you tell us how you found it on Smyths website? I can't find a Drift item from the Robots In Disguise toyline on their website.

I agree...with the exception of Grimlock, who should not be like he is. I'm not a diehard geewunner, but he really has been constantly the same every since G1, heck, Optimus has changed more then him!
Anyways, first wave, picking up Strongarm, because I like her design.
Drift I miiiight get, depends on how he comes across in a video review.
And since we got those little titan thingamajigs I'm guessing a Prowl, Cliffjumper, Hammer Strike and Thunderhoof are in the works. And going by the artwork, all four might be worth grabbing.

Sigh...
Ah well - I won't take it away from anyone if they want another. For my part, I don't foresee buying any Bbee figures from hereon out, unless a line comes out that's so good I feel inclined to collect all of them (even if there's a Bbee figure in the mix). So far though, this line doesn't look like it has that kind of pull.

Well, then that's an argument against itself since G1 Grimlock had two different character portrayals. Dimwitted cartoon version, and intelligent yet bombastic comics version.Fires_Of_Inferno wrote:Sabrblade wrote:All of the following have deviated from G1 Grimlock's form, deco, or both:

Masterpiece line aside Has/Tak has seriously gone backwards with its toy design in the last few years. It wasn't that long ago they were producing some really nice stuff, Prime FE series for example, but now we get this garbage.
RID = Rubbish In Da'box!
Posted by ScottyP on December 13th, 2014 @ 2:05pm CST
The 3-Step "Hyperchange" Grimlock is simpler than I expected. I actually think the Transformation is fun, and the Dino mode is pretty good, but the robot mode lacks any articulation besides the shoulders which is very disappointing. Not the worst looking bot mode either, just can't do anything with it.
So yeah, if you like the old Cyberverse stuff, the Legions will not disappoint you. Hyperchange Grimlock is not recommended by me for anyone over the age of 7, unless you're really into the character or the kid stuff in general (no judgment here if you are).

I meant the character, color isn't a problem, but the constant of Grimlock has been he's big, and ego to match, has attitude and a relatively limited vocabulary. I'm omitting the RID (not RID15) version, because he wasn't even slightly the same. The main thing is that the new Grimlock appears to be an utter mockery to the character we all know and love.
Not trying to start a flamewar here, but the new Grimmy definitely rubs me the wrong way.

The in-package items include Custom Kreons Steel Jaw, Grimlock, Bumblebee and Optimus Prime. We also get to see the box the blind bag Kreons come in. The larger sets include Sideswipe Roadway Rundown, Strongarm Capture Cruiser, Bumblebee Disc Demolisher, Optimus Prime Beast Blaster and Underbite Jet Pack Take Down.

I wish there was more variety in helmets. Nearly everyone is either 'Ironhide' or 'Knock Out'.
Although they actually made a faceplate-less Optimus helmet, which is one I've been wanting, so that's good.

I got that feeling as well, and I don't know if it's just my bias for wolves or there's something about the design of the character that hints at him being more noble than his initial Decepticon allegiance, but I'd love to see him have a change of heart too. Of the new Decepticons, he seems the least "monstery" in bot mode. Also, G1 Steeljaw is an Autobot, and Hasbro has generally been trying to keep names with their original factions post Armada, even if the characters themselves are reimagined compared to their original depictions. Maybe his name is a hint for us of what's to come story-wise for the new cartoon?
By the way, is it just me, or does Underbite's Kreon bare more than a passing resemblance to G1 Galvatron?
