This is the first Deluxe Class mold of movie incarnation Optimus Prime (in Earth Mode) and LU has also made some size comparison with the Voyager Class Mech Tech Optimus Prime.

Anyways, I'm liking this almost-Deluxe Class version more and more. Don't know why they couldn't have done this sooner...oh wait, that's right. They were busy raping our wallets with the 30 other variations in the larger size classes. Well, at least they finally got around to getting us one and since they have screwed up the size classifications I'm guessing that before this line is done we'll have have 3 or 4 Primes that can be considered Scout Class as well. Time for me to get a 3rd box for my Prime collection. The first 2 are nearly full and I'm definitely getting more before the year is done.

I agree completely. I also wish the two halves of the backpack containing the wheels folded in and the grill folded down over top of them. It would help make it a little more compact and a little less back heavy.

I think Hasbro said one of their goals is to have every major character available in every regular Size Class, meaning Deluxe, Voyager and Leader. So far we have:
Optimus Prime
Ironhide
Starscream
Megatron and Ratchet are one Class short (Deluxe and Leader respectively) to make it on the list. And Bumblebee still has Human Alliance for the Voyager size. And take note I said major, so no characters like Blackout or Bonecrusher.

Seriously, these figures are nearly 3/4 leg. I don't know, it might just be me but it seems like the proportions are off compared to the 1st Movie figures.

I noticed the proportion change back when the video game trailer/tease was released. Longer, or at least thinner legs so they appear longer, legs appears to be part of the changes made for the new film. :S

Moft wrote:Only thing I don't like about this figure (aside from the obvious backpack gripes) are his arms. They're molded entirely in gray plastic, and the ONLY piece on them that's actually blue is the cab guard, which is the only piece that actually SHOULD be gray/silver. The shoulders also don't look right at all either, but they're not so bad.
They look better when the blue pieces rest on his shoulders rather than turned up like how they are in the pictures.
As for his arms, thats nothing a little paint doesn't fix.

Movie Prime has always had long slender legs and long arms, the 07 movie toys just always got it wrong.

Blurrz wrote:This looks really well-engineered. Too bad it's just.. I dunno, I really don't see any point of having a smaller Movie Prime when I've already got '07 Leader, ROTF Leader.. and then DOTM Jetwing. Then again, it'll be uber cheap.
It's also uber crappy.
I've come to the decision that while I may understand the why of how product is coming out, I will not allow that to deflect criticism of crappy Transformers toys.

Maybe it's the way they've been presenting it as of late then. I was very shocked at how long his legs looked in that game trailer. :S

Is that how it's done? Well, I know what I'm doing with this first when it comes in the mail!

I've also heard you can strip the gears thus "breaking" the gun. Ryan in his photos uses the clear elastic bands that come with the figures.
