HMW news typically doesn't make it out of its own forum, so thanks for helping to spread the word. ;)^

HMW news should always make it outside of the forum when it's big enough. You guys can help by submitting news at http://seibertron.com/contact/index.php?subject=news

I would also like to promote this on the homepage. Anyone got a spotlight and feature image for the image and maybe a quick write up that fits the standard spotlight / feature text? One of the admins will put it up on the homepage to help promote this.

Wow, looks like the Minicons got a restock.

Well, I guess that's a good thing, considering I just lost five of them in missions. Seriously, these things die wayyyyyyyy too easily!

First Steelhide, then Shatterblast. If your Minicons didn't die so easily I might have a sense of satisfaction now.

Hey, it ain't my fault that the Deflectors and the Hoppers suck!

Seriously, of the four types I tend to loose those two the most. I still find Electrum useless against Battle Blades and my 'Bots accuracy is just as bad as it always was: Can't hit the broad side of Unicron for the life of 'em. :P

I think I'll just stick with the Sparklers and Lifters. My air and land animals actually seem to benefit from the FRP and STR boosts. XD

EDIT: *finally* my namesake does something! Sparklers FTW!

I think the Minicons would work better if they didn't die when your bot goes into statis lock. It is a nice idea but what is the point of paying large sums of energon for something that could only be used maybe once. I think the Minicons should disconnect when the bot's health drops below a certain point (like in the Atari game).

Ithink it could be better, if destroyed mini-cons would go into a "mini-con CR chamber", that needs to be set manually, and costs more than normal CR (about 1/5 of the mini-cons original cost)

Well, I have two more minis to waste (plus one Electrum-creator equipped)

The best armor in the game, it bascally would need 8 rank to equip, the mini gives you 10 packs of it.

This is a good idea. I have to admit that my bots are going into stasis lock in almost every other mission. This could get very expensive if you could even find any to buy. Besides, why would I take the time to name something that I could potentially have for less than an hour
? It's like naming a bottle of water.

I like this idea...

Only I was thinking a deal where they went into CR "for free" but took like, a full day or 2, to "heal".

I have to agree: way too expensive. Mine lasted maybe three fights and then died. So much for 60k.
Re: Heavy Metal War: The Minicons are Here! (226389)
Posted by Redimus on July 17th, 2007 @ 7:47am CDT
They have to last longer, as they're simply impossible for lower lvls to use at the moment (unless there are less effective/cheaper ones for them?).

Also, I dunno about anybody else, but I havnt really seen any actual improvments to performance brought about by the minicons when equiped.
Re: Heavy Metal War: The Minicons are Here! (226404)
Posted by Chaoslock on July 17th, 2007 @ 7:56am CDT
The price of them got lowered yesterday, when about half of the stock were already sold, the new prices were:
4Fp- 4000
4Spd- 6000
4Str- 6000
10Electrum- 10000

The new prices were better, but considering that it was the biggest carnage in Tf history (except the movies), more than 700 mini-cons have been killed till this point (under less than 20 hours!)

EDIT:
Not to mention:
They destroyed Steve!!!! Well, life goes on... :P

People people people! Stop and think about things.

If minicons aren't destroyed, everyone will eventually have one for each of their bots.

Now where's the fun in that?

Minicons are designed to give you a LITTLE advantage in a time of crisis.

The only reason they sold out so quickly is because there's plenty of energon to go around.

Come the reset, not many people will be able to afford them. When it comes to capturing a sector, you're going to need that extra boost. Energon is going to have to be shared around so that the best bots can get these minicons and have the punch needed at the right time to win the sector.

It adds strategy and it'll help break up the "clone bots" we have now. Look at it from a game perspective, if everyone can permanently attach mini-cons, then they'd just become another customisation, like upgrading different stats. Killing 'em off and making them hard to acquire gives uniqueness, strategy and variety to the new game.

I understand what you're saying here but I think the same thing could be accomplished by simply extending the time it takes to repair/recharge/heal a minicon. I don't think they should die. The fun comes because not every one will have their minicons equipped for every battle because it would take twice or 3 times as long to repair a mincon than your regular bot. That way you can still save up your minicons for important battles. That's just my opinion though.

Im not yet convince they actully work, I know for a fact that the speed one has been utterly usless to me, infact the three I had equiped with that one seem to have performed WORSE. And the strenght one didnt seem to impresive either (although I dont think it is as bad as the speed one).

As they currently stand, they dont offer a lot of improvment, they cost too much, and they die to easily. Im sure this isnt the finalised code for minicons, but it dosnt look good does it?

The Electrum one is working, it adds armor as I noticed, my Dol blasts were reduced to a max. of 7-9 damage(Although this didn't help much for Gearbox):

They also tip off if you died in a mission that is currently running. I'm sure you've noticed the minicon symbol with your chars on the registry page which means they have one powerlinked for the mission they are in. If you refresh the page or leave come back, etc and see that the icon is gone then your bot/con has been stasis locked during the mission. It's come out like this for all of mine so far. Just something that I noticed.

Without any shadow of a doubt they WORK. I tested them extensively before pushing this out and did even more tests last night after the rollout. They definitely do what it says they do.

Sorry the RNG has been unkind to you Redimus. :P

Ahhhh we all pay more for new technologies when we want them the second they come out. I made the same mistake with my first digital television.

Oh yes. There will be a TON of new Minicons. Just keep your eyes open because they will be added sporadically.

It's actually neat to see if your bot/con is still kicking. Although it does suck when you refresh 30 secs into the mission and the minicon icon is gone  :-x
