There are some slight Gundam-esque design cues (especially the stance), but if you put this design in a Gundam show it'd stick out like a sore thumb.

I found the board member that's in denial.

Are you sure, because Gundam these days don't really follow any one look. They're all over the map, especially when you start getting into the Build Fighters stuff.
Gundam Tryon 3
SF-01 Super Fumina

For the record I've been picking up old used Gundam MSIA figures lately.

I used to collect Gundam model kits way back in late 90s early 2000s and I have an SD Gundam figurine on my shelf right here and that thing in that pic makes me think Gundam.

Yeah I was thinking more along the lines of the 'classic' Gundam stuff I used to collect. Stuff that looked like this. And even with this very basic Gundam design I can see many similar elements in that Starsaber figure illustration. Less so in the IDW comic panel. I reckon Flame Toys artist has some experience or interest with Gundam.

Oh, so was I, I was just using those two as an example of just how outlandish Gundam can get. Personally I think Star Saber reminds me a little of this:

Which means if they scale Tarn is going to be even more. I'm glad I picked up MMC's Kultur, because he's only a fraction of the cost. Yikes.
Ooooh dear. I was really liking the looks of this line too; yikes...

So far the sketches represent their designs for IDW incarnations of Tarn, Star Saber, Drift, plus Optimus Prime, who does not follow the same aesthetic, for some reason. What else do they have in store? Keep your optics here as we post them here for your viewing pleasure.

I dunno. Looks like he's really trying to hold his gut in. Also the chest reminds me more of RotF Bludgeon than Prime.

Take a look at the new image they provided below, and then tell us if you are interested in picking up this non-transforming figure in the future, or if you'll wait to see more. One of the largest critiques of their previous Transformers figure, Drift, was the large price tag. It will be interesting if that changes at all with their new figure, Tarn.

i anticipate the day they add Impactor to the design queue.

As they announced, they will be attending this weekend's Hong Kong event Toysoul 2017, and it looks like someone took photos during show set up and we found that not only Tarn is ready to be shown off in full colour, but we also get a white prototype of the Star Saber figure, reminding us all that yes, Primus does indeed hate us. Check out the images below via Twitter user DkunDX and Ben Lai of HKTF!

Now that you mentioned it, you have a point. Something always bothered me about Star Saber, and I think you just hit the nail on the head.

Flame Toys has a booth at the current TOYSOUL 2017 event in Hong Kong. What stands out about these incarnations that while some are clearly action figures others are in fact super detailed models! Starscream in this case would be a model kit in fact. The images are mirrored below and also link to Toyswalker's extensive gallery from the TOYSOUL 2017 event.

Not crazy about Prime, not sure sure what kind of truck he'd turn into with windows like that. I have no idea what's going on with BB. Why the emphasis on showing off his tires and why are his tires bigger than Prime's?

Still not the foggiest why they would do an IDW Star Saber, who only showed up in 3 issues I think so far. I mean, Milne's design for him was cool, but still

It is important to note that this is an action figure, and not the model kit that was previously revealed at Toysoul.
Check out the teaser below, and let us know what you think of it in the comments section below!

They have given us both a video review and pictorial review. You can see all the accessories which include eight pairs of hands additional faces and the coolest sword ever:
The part that I found the most cool of all of the accessories is the hilt gimmick on Drift’s larger sword where you push the handle in and the hilt expands while changing the color of the orb in the center (shown in the video portion.)
Below is the overal score Kumastyle gives the figure, along with a video review followed by several images from their pictorial review which can be seen fully here.
Overall Score: 9.9/10 – As stated above, I have a very strong bias towards non-transforming homages that focus on look, build, and articulation like this piece does, so take that as you will. However, regardless of your preference on whether or not Transformers toys need to “transform,” there’s no denying that this Drift piece not only delivers but absolutely excels in what it aims to do. Flame Toys not only gave themselves a big, extravagant introduction into the world of Transformers collectibles but gave consumers an amazing piece to close out the year with.

The models, after the Autobot Leader and Decepticon second-in-command, will apparently feature the likes of Hound and Bumblebee, with some interesting accessories for both! Respectively, Hound will have his shoulder cannon and more guns and blades than his live-action Age of Extinction counterpart, while Bumblebee also borrows from Paramount and ILM, and will include a heli rotor, a hammer, and plenty of attitude. Check it out below, and expect more images over the weekend here at Seibertron.com!
