The package with the "fixed" head can be identified by having a rubberband that holds the head in place during shipping. On the case of Brainstorms that I received, the ones with the fix can be identified by the small code on the back of the box (42791) which is different than the code on the unfixed version (42551). These codes may vary and may possibly not be the codes that identify the fix. Please share your examples with us if you find something that contradicts this information.
To clarify some earlier confusion from our Facebook page and in our discussion topic about this matter, the rubberband has nothing to do with the actual fix other than it can be used to identify which ones have the fix versus ones that don't.
Here are some images showing the differences between the two releases to help you identify the different versions.
For those who still have the initial release, the video below shows you how to fix it yourself.
If you're still on the fence about picking up Generations Brainstorm, make sure you check out Seibertron.com's massive gallery of this figure. Also, if you come across this toy at a retail store, make sure you share your sighting it in our Sightings section or on our Sightings forum.

I remember when Crankcase had a similar thing, 1st Edition had hastily hacked-off fingers and later editions had remolded hands. Never saw the revised version...

You mean you dont think you'll find any? Were there any ever spotted in your area? Because I never even saw this guy. Actually, I dont think he ever appeared in Canada so far.

The fix mentioned may be a reason you have not seen him. It could be that the reports of poor quality from the initial release made them halt further distribution inroder to fix it and rerelease it. I am assuming that's the same thing that is going on with Arcee since she too had a running change (with her hand), which halted the distribution of the wave.

Even Chromia?. But then again, if I recall you dont have the original arcee mold it's based on right? The reason I am hesitant about her is due to the mold reuse, I never get the same feeling about transforming a toy for the first time if I already know it's transformation scheme (but that's just me).

I do have Arcee, but I haven't had a chance to compare them as she has been packed away for some time. I will be getting her out soon. I would give Chromia a 7.5 out of 10. Her transformation isn't the best, but she has many redeeming qualities.
Knowing what I know about your collection and what you like WJ. I don't know that she is a "must have" for you.

I haven't opened my Chromia yet, but reports claim that there were so many mold changes made to it that it altered the transformation scheme to the point that it no longer transforms like the original Arcee version did.william-james88 wrote:Cobotron wrote:If it helps anyone who's hunting, I've only found them at Walmart Super Centers. I saw one Roadbuster at a Target 2 months ago, but it was so banged up I passed on it. It paid off: last week I saw 6 Roadbusters at the Kmart in Penn Station (NYC). Picked up two, and I'm fairly pleased with him.
I just hope the latter waves of the Thrilling 30 Generations figures are distributed along with the first waves of Combiner Wars so we can properly cap 2014 product before moving on to CW proper.

I'd even be willing to pay shipping for that.

finally! being a canadian late to the party finally pays off! hopefully if/when he finally shows up itll be the fixed version.
as for what ive seen... the newest generations ive spotted came from our ill fated target: skybyte/roadbuster, gears/acidstorm, and windblade asst. all of which was pre-xmas, only once, and not spotted since.

Cant you just write to their customer service and say you broke yours? I did that whenever my toys broke and when it was a current toy, I got that same toy brand new in the mail. Didnt even have to send them my original broken one (why would they pay unecesary shipping).

Our quadrant seems to have all the Whirl/Roadbuster/Skrapnel figures, but no Arcee figures, no Chromia, no Brainstorm, no Jetfire, Cosmos, etc. etc. etc.
So I don't doubt that other parts of the country are awash in Arcee/Chromia/Jetfires, and wondering where the (bleep) all the Roadbusters, Cosmos, and Whirls are.
I can't abide political socialism and all their hypocrisy about 'equal distribution' - but in the case of Transformers, it looks like we could use equal distribution of all the various figures in a line/wave so that each state has equal access to all the figures in a particular line/wave. Right now we've got some weird, inexplicable system where some states get all of one figure, none of the others, and so everybody winds up with only the figure in their particular zone, and all the extras wind up shelf warming.

Canada seems to be a wide distribution since there is only one distribution center. Almost like it's a state of it's own that has language laws in parts of it. And Shajaki can tell me if I am wrong but we got a ton of springers and rhinoxes (I could still find one in December 2014). The Windblade line just hit us at most a month ago. And I saw a TON of Jetfire.
Roadbuster and Skybyte were spotted momentarily but seem as scarce as what you guys are describing. And from the looks of it, I dont think we will get Gen Arcee and Chromia till april (and yet I saw her in Hong Kong last november!!!!!) I would not be surprised if we get combiner wars before this final 2014 generations wave.

Also, if its one thing Canada had too much of, it was Gen cosmos.

I think the AOE line could explain alot of last years buying trends too.
Interesting to note also That all three of those retailors have the new RID 2015 stuff.
Also been meaning to tell US folks that I spotted a few CW Legends and empty pegs and shelf space for CW Deluxe and Voyagers at Shopko. All at regular MSRP. If you have Shopko in your area, you may want to add that to your hunting trail.

If you haven't seen Arcee, Chromia, or Brainstorm at retail at this point, you never will. I was concerned about this myself last month, so I ordered them from BBTS.
This always happens with the last wave of a line. Of course, technically the CW stuff is generations, but the same thing seems to apply in this situation.
If you want any of the three of these I would get them ASAP.
In Arcee's case, it might be too late.

As did I, but I cannot remember if it had one or not. Is there any other way to tell other than the band or the number on the box? I don't play with my stuff anyhow, but just curious.

and did you encounter a problem with it?
Also for shockblast 2, wouldnt Brainstorm be found scarecely mean that few people have him and that thus, there are many people out there that would like to know which version they are buying if they find one at retail?
And he hasnt surfaced in canada yet (neither has arcee) or other parts of the world so it is still relevant for a lot of people for when he will show up.

I guess so, if you plan on playing with it. But, the fact is they are not going to find it at retail. I am sure a few stores got it, but most didn't. Look at the sightings for it. Practically nil.
This is why I am a big fan of buying online. Sometimes you pay a three or four dollar premium, but it beats the hell out of waiting for the goons at the big boxes to fill their shelves. And ultimately it is not their fault. It is the shitty inventory systems that will not allow employees to order their own stuff.

When both stores finally started to stock 2014 figures in the spring they flooded the pegs with wave 8 (Armada Starscream, FoC Skywarp, Scoop, Mini-Con Assault Team) and they stuck around until the winter meaning very limited stock of the remaining figures. Arcee managed to get by me before I could buy it, but I did get Chromia. Chromia is a nice figure, but I suggest folding her skirt all the way up behind her back or else it blocks her hips. Shame they got cheap and left out one of her two guns.
No real trouble finding Voyagers. Local Walmarts didn't get past wave 6, Whirl, but Target at least got wave 7 (Roadbuster and Sky-byte). Haven't seen Brainstorm, but knowing he's still shipping I'm not too concerned. Leader Jetfire is totally MIA. Heck, I've barely seen AoE Leaders around.
As for Legends, that line is a joke. If it weren't for the internet I would think the line was canceled in 2013. Here, allow me to list all of the Legends figure I've found between the two local Walmarts: Optimus Prime, Bumblebee (wave 3). That's it, ever. In fact I got Bee for $5 because Walmart put them on clearance a month after getting them only to restock them a few months later. Target is only slightly better, they at least got Megatron and Starscream (wave 4)when they first came, but left the pegs empty until this past winter when they got wave 6 (Skrapnel and Tailgate). So yeah, no sign of wave 5 (Swerve and Cosmos), wave 7 (Acid Storm and Gears), or wave 8 (Nemesis Prime and Cliffjumper). With CW coming I doubt I'll ever see those three waves in stores.
We'll see how CW goes, I'm hoping they give the first wave a hard push, they sell well, and wave 2 will be stocked aplenty as well. But I'm not very optimistic.

The rubber band didn't fix the issue. It is just a way to tell them apart.

I'd wish they would do something like that too. I was just so disappointed in mine I fooled around with it for a bit and put it in storage, without the head attached mind you.

I'm pretty sure I got the new fix. And my Brainstorm is limp wristed...
It's really the only complaint I have. Well, maybe aesthetically with the abrupt ending to the back of the alt mode, like there should be some engines back there or something...
[Edit] Never mind. I found my box. The original number, 42551...

If they can manage to hold a pose, it would be an improvement over what I have now. I've more or less fixed the head, but those wrists are just terrible. eh, if I see the fixed version in stores, I will grab one anyway and swap it. Having one without a mangled/sanded headmaster head would be nice.
