Posted by Sabrblade on May 29th, 2009 @ 10:37pm CDT

I heard also there are a few made.

Anyway, I have seen many pictures of that toy but have never, ever seen a size comparison. Armada Unicron was much bigger than I thought he would be an this guy dwarfs him. Amazing.
capellamusic wrote:Was this figure ever released? I never saw it before... If it was never released I'd say that now it's a good time as 25th anniversary "reissue" .
I second that, if properly coloured (obviously). Would be great to have a toy I have wanted since 1986. Failing that, a proper G1 style Unicron would suffice.

Granted by today's standards that thing is an ugly brick, but what a magnificent piece of Transformers history. What's next? Digging up the old Transtech protos?
Posted by Ultra Markus on May 29th, 2009 @ 11:57pm CDT
were you could have a chance to win a unicron toy maybe that was supposed to be it
and then it never happened.
Posted by D-340 on May 30th, 2009 @ 12:09am CDT
For a G1 toy ol' Uni ain't bad, but a little too round. It does tower of Armada Unicron though, and that's pretty sweet.

No, man..it's NOT released...This is just a prototype they've had for over 20 years...They show it off at conventions every so often but it's never been put into production...
I have to say though, I had NO idea it was that big...I would have LOVED it is as a kid even though it looks stupid (a lot of TFs back then did and we didn't care)...Hell, I'd buy it now just to have...

Sabrblade wrote:Okay, so if Hasbro's got this prototype, I wonder who has this prototype:
Takara, it's theirs. This would have been a different release of the toy, coming with a "moon" type canon, which kinda looks like TFArmada Unicron's minicon, which orbits via an electric engine around Unicron in Planet mode.
But one thing strikes me as weird, the one they have displayed must be brand new. As the other one belongs to a collector, and has a slightly different colours, plus this one here looks brand spanking new...... why?

The G1 Seekers weren't bad, neither was Soundwave.
Hell, there were a few G1 figures that didn't look half bad.
This thing looks like a kindergartner designed it.

But I'd rather have BWNeo Unicron. He might be smaller, but he's sculpted better.

The rest of me says: "F*cking AWESOME!!! It has that g1 sprit all over it!"
I'll pay 200 euro's (283,16 USD) for one! Really I would.
I really hope they will release this and get a few on ebay. No matter the price they will be sold out in a short amount of time, trust me.

Please don't give Hasbro/TakaraTomy price ideas... I don't want to pay 200 EUR for it... How about $50 USD in a 25th anniversary commemorative edition with the Marvel comic in which he appears for the first time? Now that would be a guaranteed buy (for $50 USD Hasbro, $50!! ).

Just getting this thing released to the public would take a miracle!capellamusic wrote:noctorro wrote:I'll pay 200 euro's (283,16 USD) for one! Really I would.

But getting it released at $50 USD would just flat out be a blessing from above.
Either that or Hasbro would be beyond uber-desperate to get rid of it.

You're right, it has rubber bands as if it has been taken from a new package! Could this mean it's... it's... it's going to be released??? I want it!! I really hope they release it as a commemorative 25th anniversary package, at an affordable price...

Dont know, I havnt got the armada version. The only things I can think of, is paint differences and plastic quality like most usualy arguments from hasbro vs takara wars. the box was a win, the art and the fact he will sit back in there with moving. more funny enough when I got him a few years back MISB, i got him for a bargain price of £31.00, thats less that the american version and hell lot less that the universe one

There are a few paint variations between the two, note that I did not say additions or improvements, just differences.
The Japanese version is perhaps half a shade lighter in color. Which isn't so much a planned thing as it was a production related thing.
There are no quality differences.
