Preordered without a second thought. I love the Energon combiners

Combiners will be available in Target and Zellers to coincide with the release of the Movie.

May I gag at this inaccuracy? Superlink, Energon and Universe.
And I agree with Mkall on the single joint. Otherwise it looks quite good. Not that I'm getting it...

I guess I'll still get it though...

I saw it...but I just report the news.
Besides, BBTS is entirely out of Superlink toys. They just don't get along with the line well.

It will be for the movie set if Zellers actually gets it, but if not my Energon Superion will be looking much better.

I support what they do, but that's just too much. Of course, that could be the usual BBTS markup. If not, then things may be as I feared, their projects will get more and more expensive. I just hope I don't end up having to spend $100 to get the Protector set.

I know I take a devil may care attitude about spending a lot of times as a result of my philosophy on buying...
but this really doesn't seem an unfair price to me.

I completely agree.
Not only does the kit fix almost all the problems that Superion Maximus has, but the Individual jet modes also benefit from not having those ridiculous energon weapons/combiner bits plugged on.
If FansProject somehow included a piece to address the waist issue on the combined mode then all the flaws that Superion has will be fixed.
$40 really isn't that bad. Considering their origional Cliffjumper kit was $35, and that had way less pieces than this.

I think you and I have about the same attitude when it comes to spending my friend, price seems fair.

Price is up there a bit but not terribly unexpected or surprising for a custom set that serves a dual purpose.
I hate FP for being so good at what they do as does my wallet!

Now I just have to wait to buy the set this summer. LOL!!
I don't think it's too expensive. Again, we always want this stuff to be cheaper, but that is really not denting my pocket like some of the other stuff that's out there.

true... it would be nice if these things were cheaper, but we're not talking about grain or fuel. we're talking about a luxury item... and like most luxury items, the retail price has nor relation to the cost of materials and labor.
in other words, our idea of what the price "should" be is equally arbitrary as the shelf price

I think the release of this item will end any 'who's the best combiner?' type threads, it's awesome! It makes the figure more imposing in a way that combiners generally aren't.

Well, I'd probably go for it, if it were say... $10 cheaper, but I've gotta draw the line somewhere, especially since I live in Canada where the exchange adds another 15-20% to the price tag.
IMO the Cliffjumper set was a bit too expensive for what it was, but since it was a very limited run I suppose it was warranted. I didn't get it anyway.
I like having these cool add-ons or exclusives and whatnot, but being that Superion isn't one of my priorities, the price alone convinces me I can pass on this. Much like I'm passing on the ROTF Leader Prime, because the one I have is good enough. I just can't afford to buy items I only sort of want.
Protector, on the other hand, I have to have even if it does end up being $100. I won't be happy about the price, but I'll buy it, because I love Hot Rod that much.
All that said, I may change my mind on this Superion set as more info comes to light, but for now it's definitely a pass.

Since two of the club combiner figures are jets from this set, then you could theoretically use them as one arm and one leg... that said, though, you'd probably have a gimpy lopsided combiner, since this alters the proportions of the original figures to a small degree, and the pieces are designed specifically to work on the F-35s as arms and A-10s as legs (meaning you'd have nothing for the helicopter or tank).
Going to go preorder as soon as I finish typing this.

Perhaps this add on is one of two and they'll make a set for Bruticus. Heck, maybe do a special one just for the club set.

That would be cool, but something tells me if they are to do that it will end up being a convention special like the Powered Commander.

Just g1 inspired re decos of the Airialbots and Combaticons in team packs. The Constucticons are unlikely as they were already rereleased a couple years back.

I doubt it would happen... The arms and legs don't appear to specifically attach to their respective limbs, in terms of the Aerialbots. The bottoms of the feet appear to become boosters for the large jet, while the sides of them become the 'radar disc' for the A-10 molds. Still can't tell where the fists go... I'm guessing inside one of the other parts.
For a mix-n-match set designed for the Club Combiner, you'd need to find places to PUT all of the excess stuff.
On a separate note, I'm hoping the final color scheme on these will be white, like the original G1 combiner...

well.... That is true enough, and it is most likely that reason we havn't heard FP doing a Combaticon one as it would be harder for them to figure out uses with those pieces.
However if they were to do a set for them, then it is conceivable that they could (for the club combiner) just do a set in a different color scheme that would work for the combiner without worring about the altmodes.

RodimusConvoy13 wrote:do we know if that is the actual color of the pieces or are the pics still prototypes?
I think those are final colors. What I saw last weekend was just plain grey resin.
As for the cost, I think it justifies how much time, effort and actual funds go into something like this. Remember, it's a group of 6-7 guys doing this on the side, with their spare time. You can bet your bottom dollars that if something like this were made in the states or even Canada it would be almost $100.00 for sure.
What really sells me is the quality. Unlike Battle Roller this set if very sturdy and made to please. I'll be buying this and a side of gravy.

That's good & bad. Good in that I don't have 2 of the Combaticons. Bad in that I still won't have 1 of the Constructicons. Damn.
