The Movie Reporter has put up a
video interview with none other than Tom DeSanto, co-producer of next year's blockbuster movie of the Transformers.
IESB.net caught up with Tom DeSanto at the 32nd Annual Saturn Awards to support Ringers: Lord of the Fans. Amoungst other things, DeSanto was asked a few questions regarding the Transformers movie. You can view the
six minute clip on their website.
"We start shooting in three more weeks. So I think there is going to be a rapid fire announcement very rapidly coming your way. And there should be an announcement, I heard through the trades, that the announcement of Jon Voight being signed should be heading to the trades tomorrow"
"Don [Murphy]
was the new guy. But Don had the passion for the original voices. And he won me over! So I am supporting the original voice actors. You know, [Peter]
Cullen and [Frank]
Welker should be... They're the reason that people empathize with those characters. And you don't care about Megatron or Optimus Prime in alot of the other incarnations as much as you do as when those actors were voicing those parts"

In an interview at
Sci Fi Wire John Voight has confirmed that, if he signs the papers, he will be playing the secretary of state in the forthcoming Transformers Movie.
Jon Voight told SCI FI Wire that nothing is finalized, but it looks likely that he'll be joining the cast of director Michael Bay's upcoming big-budget Transformers: The Movie. "I'm playing this ... well, we haven't signed the papers yet," Voight said in an interview. "But it looks like I'm going to play the secretary of state."
Dispite some errors in the article, i.e Jerry Bruckheimer has nothing to do with this movie and the lead is called Spike (not Sam), it's safe to assume that Voight's testimony confirms he has been offered the part and is considering taking it.

Since 2002 artist Scott Campbell has been creating some very interesting sculptures using mistransformed and dismantled Transformers! He explaines his 'Misformers' line of artwork thusly:
TransFormers are shining examples of functionality. They transform from useful machines into even greater robots capable of god like feats. As a model for the transition from a boy to a man, a TransFormer is a pretty tough act to follow. The MisFormers series brings some balance to the idea and represents the multitude of humans and social realities stuck somewhere in the middle. No longer a car but not quite becoming the world saving robot either.
The MisFormers Project started as a brief glance at the inability of many industrialized societies to raise socially functional male adults. However, it quickly developed to act as a platform to explore a much wider range of issues related to social dynamics.
Besides all that, I like the complexity of the mythology and the internationality of the visual language of the TransFormers as a material. I love the way they feel and the colour as well as the sound they make when they shift from one pose to another
For the first time Scotts work has been published online at
PingMag.jp. The article displays his artwork as well an interview with the artist on the ideas and motivation behind his work.
What every you think of Scotts Art it has certainly sparked a lot of interest and debate on our Toys forum, leave your comments below.
