Shia LaBeouf is Set for Indiana Jones
April 13, 2007
Shia LeBeouf can currently be seen in Disturbia from DreamWorks Pictures
Shia LaBeouf, one of the fastest-rising stars in the world of film, has now been set for the new Indiana Jones movie, it was announced today by Steven Spielberg and George Lucas.
He will join Harrison Ford who returns as the action hero, the man with the hat and the whip.
Production on this fourth installment of the Indiana Jones adventure is scheduled to begin this June in Los Angeles and will also film at undisclosed distant locations.
Produced by Lucasfilm Ltd., directed by Spielberg, and released by Paramount Pictures throughout the world beginning May 22nd, 2008, the screenplay has been written by David Koepp. Frank Marshall will produce the film with Lucas and Kathleen Kennedy serving as Executive Producers.
It will be the third film the charismatic Shia has done with a Spielberg connection, the first two being the DreamWorks Pictures productions Disturbia and Transformers.
"We are excited about bringing Shia into our Indy family," said Spielberg. "His talent has impressed not only his audiences throughout his young career but the directors, producers and fellow actors who have worked with him in his television career and now his film career."
"I was hoping the rumors were true, so I couldn't be more thrilled," said Shia. "To be cast in an Indiana Jones film is like grabbing the brass ring and holding on for the ride. I'll do my best to meet the high standards that Steven, George, and Harrison have set and I can't wait to take that giant step in front of the Indy cameras."
LaBeouf can be seen in this Friday's release, Disturbia, a DreamWorks Pictures production, distributed by Paramount Pictures. The film also stars Carrie-Ann Moss, David Morse, Sarah Roemer and Aaron Yoo and was directed by D.J. Caruso. He will also lend his voice as a surfing penguin in this summer's animated film, Surf's Up for Sony Pictures. Next up is the highly anticipated Transformers, a co-production of DreamWorks Pictures and Paramount Pictures. The action-adventure film is directed by Michael Bay and will debut around the world this July 4th.
LaBeouf's other film credits include Bobby, A Guide to Recognizing Your Saints, The Greatest Game Ever Played, Constantine, I, Robot, HBO's Project Greenlight production The Battle of Shaker Heights, Charlie's Angels: Full Throttle, and Holes.
On television, LaBeouf garnered much praise from critics everywhere for his portrayal of Louis Stevens on the Disney Channel's original series "Even Stevens." In 2003, he earned a Daytime Emmy Award for Outstanding Performer in a Children's Series for his work on the highly-rated family show.
And this Saturday night he's live from New York hosting NBC's "Saturday Night Live."

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
British gadget and novelty company Thumbs Up are celebrating as they have been secured the licence to produce Transformers the Movie light-up t-shirts, USB gadgets and Wheelie Glider shoe wheel attachments.
Set to hit the shops several weeks before the film’s launch in July, Thumbs Up’s licensed products feature logos and characters from the Transformers film, including the iconic Autobot and Decepticon insignias. These have graced t-shirts since Transformers debuted the first time around in the 1980s, but they’ve never been seen quite like this, as a light-up panel now brings these new t-shirts to illuminated life!
Speaking about the licence, Thumbs Up’s Business Development Director, Wojtek Kolan said: "We were delighted that Hasbro awarded us the ‘Transformers the Movie’ licence for our products. They were impressed with our unique and innovative technology and cutting edge designs. When we showed them the concepts, they were amazed!
"The team at Thumbs Up are very excited about the next few years, as we are set to take a revolutionary position in the gadget sector! Several major retail chains have already signed up to stock our Transformers lines, which will offer several unique selling points when compared to typical licensed items."
The Transformers products from Thumbs Up are set to be huge and are already causing a stir! When representatives of Thumbs Up attended a recent preview screening of footage from the movie wearing the light-up t-shirts, they couldn’t have got more attention, with journalists and Transformers fans alike asking about them.
The Thumbs Up office also received a flood of enquires about the t-shirts after this first public debut. Everyone wanted to know where they could buy them, and Empire magazine even put out a request on their website which said: "To the people in the light-up Transformers T-shirts: Where did you get those? We want them. Please email us."

Transformers Prequel to the Upcoming Blockbuster Movie Looking Like a Blockbuster, Too
First Two Issues of IDW's Movie Prequel Comic Completely Sold Out
March 28, 2007, San Diego, CA - With the recent release of new one- sheets showing the first official poster images of OPTIMUS PRIME and MEGATRON, fan anticipation for the big-screen TRANSFORMERS movie opening on July 4 continues to grow. This interest is evidenced in another way, too -- the first two issues of IDW Publishing's Transformers: The Official Movie Prequel comic book miniseries are officially sold out through Diamond Comic Distributors.
The Movie Prequel comic book, co-written by longtime TRANSFORMERS scribe Simon Furman and IDW's Publisher/Editor-in-Chief Chris Ryall and featuring art by fan-favorite artist Don Figueroa, offered fans the first official look at the characters and storyline to come in the summer movie release. This all-new, four-part storyline spanned centuries and planets, taking the story from the TRANSFORMERS' world of CYBERTRON through space to Earth, where players on both sides are gathering for a coming war. IDW released a special WizardWorld LA convention-exclusive edition of issue 1, limited to 1,000 copies, and will also distribute a special Free Comic Book Day version of the comic in May. But otherwise, that first issue, and issue 2, which features MEGATRON's arrival on Earth, have all been snatched up by anxious fans.
"This is especially gratifying to me," said co-writer Ryall, "since we've been doing Transformers comics for over a year now, and I've got to see from the start how fan interest in the movie has turned from wariness to absolute fervor."
Overall interest in THE TRANSFORMERS comics seems to be growing, too, as evidenced by other recent sell-outs, including:
The Transformers: Infiltration TPB. A second printing is on press right now.
Transformers Spotlight: Hot Rod
The Transformers: Escalation issues 2 and 4
Additionally, IDW has seen a spate of other titles sell out completely, too:
Zombies vs Robots issues 1 and 2
Ashley Wood's Grande Finale 1st and 2nd Printings
All issues of 24: Nightfall
Sparrow: Phil Hale
Issue 3 of Transformers: the Official Movie Prequel will be in stores on April 11. Issue 4 is set for May 2. Following that miniseries, IDW will release Transformers: The Official Movie Adaptation, by Kris Oprisko and Alex Milne, as a weekly comic book throughout the month of June. With both those projects in stores a month ahead of the movie itself, fans will find themselves fully armed as they head in to see the big-screen spectacle.

From a press release
Live-Action Movie's 'Heroes' Attend 6th Annual GM Ten Event; DreamWorks/Paramount Film Slated to Debut July 4
LOS ANGELES – Four new movie stars – "Bumblebee," "Autobot Jazz," "Autobot Ratchet" and "Ironhide" – from DreamWorks Pictures and Paramount Pictures', in association with Hasbro's, forthcoming July 4th action-adventure release, "Transformers," were introduced this evening by General Motors Corp. (NYSE: GM) as it hosted its sixth annual "ten" pre-Oscar fashion event at Paramount Pictures in Hollywood.
"Bumblebee" changes from the classic Chevrolet Camaro, and is a central character in the saga of aliens who take mechanical forms when on Earth "Autobot Jazz" converts from a Pontiac Solstice in a hardtop format. A Hummer H2, modified as a rescue vehicle, changes into "Autobot Ratchet" and "Ironhide" changes from a GMC TopKick medium-duty truck. They all star in this summer's live-action blockbuster, "Transformers," from DreamWorks Pictures and Paramount Pictures, in association with Hasbro, which will premiere July 4.
Buzz about the roles that these vehicles play in the movie has been spreading since a quick glimpse of the new Camaro was spotted in Paramount's newest "Transformers" trailer, which began appearing in theaters on Dec. 20, 2006. This clip, which is currently the most-viewed movie trailer on Yahoo!, also contains images of the Solstice, H2 and TopKick for fans who were quick enough to have freeze-framed it.
"'Transformers' is a compelling project and offers us a global platform for marketing GM products and building our brands," said Mike Jackson, GM North America vice president, marketing and advertising. "It represents the perfect intersection of entertainment, marketing and design."
"The first time I saw the new Camaro, while touring the GM Design Center, I knew immediately that it would be the perfect 'Bumblebee,'" said Michael Bay, the film's Director. He continued, "It's got beautiful lines and a classic, timeless look. There were no other cars that came even close. I have had a great working relationship with GM for many years and am psyched to be working with them on 'Transformers.'"
Gerry Rich, President of Worldwide Marketing at Paramount Pictures, added, "We are thrilled to be working with GM on this incredible and action-packed film. Having integrated the cars as characters in the film is truly an innovative concept that will help eventize this exciting 4th of July tentpole film."
GM will roll out a fully integrated marketing and promotional effort around the film in the near future, including a major Chevrolet promotion, according to Jackson.
