The people over at Madman Entertainment have dropped by with some news on upcoming releases in DVD and digital format, for both the Transformers: Animated series and the Unicron Trilogy! Check out the press release below.

Following the revelation that ‘Transformers 4’ will be titled Transformers: Age of Extinction (and of course, that there will be Dinobots), Madman is proud to announce that a new collection of fan-favourite Transformers releases, consisting of the Transformers Animated series and the Transformers Unicron Trilogy, will begin hitting DVD shelves and digital platforms from November, 2013.

The first release on November 20 will be the complete first season of Transformers Animated, the 2007 marquee Cartoon Network series which was the basis for Hasbro’s toyline of the same year leading into the release of the first Transformers live action movie..

All Transformers Animated releases will be available in widescreen on DVD, as well as HD across digital platforms. Madman will also be exclusively releasing the third season of Transformers Animated, which has been previously unavailable anywhere else in the world.

Closely following in December, Madman will unleash the first stage of the Unicron Trilogy with the first season collection of Transformers Armada, the 2002 series which featured staples Megatron, Optimus Prime and Starscream alongside fan-favourites such as Hot Shot and introduced the world to the ‘Mini-Cons’.

Consisting of Transformers: Armada, Transformers: Energon and Transformers: Cybertron – and named after the big bad villain featured across all three series – the Unicron Trilogy was a collaborative reboot of the Transformers universe, conceived out of America and animated and created in Japan by the likes of Studio Gonzo (Full Metal Panic, Hellsing), Actas Inc (Shin Megami Tensei Devil Children) and 3D graphics specialists, Studio A-CAT.

The series which followed Transformers: Beast Wars, the Unicron Trilogy features 3D computer generated robots and vehicles, along with epic anime-style story arcs.

Both Transformers Animated and the three seasons of the Transformers Unicron Trilogy have previously aired on Australian television on Cartoon Network and Channel 10.

Madman will continue to release further Transformers Animated and Transformers Unicron Trilogy season collections on DVD and digital platforms into 2014, with a new release assured for each month leading up to May – ahead of Michael Bay’s Transformers: Age of Extinction, which will hit cinemas in late June, 2014.

This fresh slate of fan-anticipated releases further cements Madman’s long standing reputation as experts on Transformers lore and will perfectly compliment their extensive catalogue, which includes Transformers Generation 1, Transformers Japan Generation 1 (Headmasters, Super God Masterforce and Victory) Transformers: Prime and Transformers: Beast Wars.

Multi-year deal will see Nikko develop range of R/C vehicles and robots based on Transformers franchise for 2014.

Radio controlled toys manufacturer, Nikko has partnered with Hasbro to develop a line of Transformers radio controlled robots and vehicles.

The new line - kicking off in 2014 and running through to 2016 - will be based on the brand's iconic Autobots and Decepticons from the Transformers universe.

The multi-year agreement offers Nikko the opportunity to leverage the upcoming entertainment slate that includes animated TV programming and the continuing popular movie series.

"No doubt Transformers fans will be excited with the innovative style that Nikko will use to create a complete line up of Radio Controlled Vehicles," said Arne Vissers, Nikko's VP of sales.

"We will follow our strategy to create great toys and sell them at mass market price points without doing any concession to the well-known Nikko quality."

James Walker, VP of European licensing at Hasbro, added: "We are thrilled to be partnering with Nikko on licensed Transformer R/C toys, on the upcoming movie and beyond.

"The vehicles have always been incredibly popular in our Transformers franchise and we are looking forward to giving fans the chance to take control of the Autobots and Decepticons."

Both Hasbro and Nikko will work closely together on a Pan European retail strategy, with dedicated Transformers shelf space, specific POS materials, TV Campaign's and a large social media offensive.

Price points are currently being finalised, and product is scheduled to be on shelves at the beginning in 2014.

Big Names Turn Cybertron "Dark"
Renowned Artist Phil Jimenez Brings His Talents To Transformers!

San Diego, CA (August 21, 2013) - Darkness falls on the AUTOBOTS this November in the comic book event Transformers: Dark Cybertron! This series pushes the TRANSFORMERS characters to their limits, but they'll have the help of some creative superstars on their journey. Joining writer and IDW senior editor John Barber and fan-favorite scribe James Roberts in a top-secret meeting earlier this year, the artistic force of Phil Jimenez helped plan Dark Cybertron from the start! "I've been a fan of the TRANSFORMERS brand since I was 13," said Jimenez, "and this was a fanboy dream come true. The beauty of this story is it plays to the strengths of the characters and to my strengths as a storyteller; epic, world-shattering scale as well as those beautiful character moments that make readers care about a bunch of giant ‘Robots in Disguise.'"

Big Names Turn Cybertron “Dark” - Renowned Artist Phil Jimenez Brings His Talents To Transformers!

The war between the AUTOBOTS and DECEPTICONS is over - but when the relentless SHOCKWAVE enacts a scheme millions of years in the making, yesterday's nightmares tear apart today's peace. "OPTIMUS PRIME, RODIMUS, BUMBLEBEE, even STARSCREAM - all these characters believed war was behind them, for better or worse," says Barber. "The big question - other than who will survive - is whose side will the DECEPTICONS be on?"

The twelve-part series starts in Transformers: Dark Cybertron #1, then alternates between the monthly TRANSFORMERS titles Robots In Disguise and More Than Meets The Eye, concluding in a finale issue in March. This is the first time that both Transformers series have crossed over. "It's thrilling to see the two casts crash back into each other's lives," says Roberts. "Fittingly, given the scale of SHOCKWAVE's ambition, this is a massive, galaxy-spanning story - and one that shakes everything up."

Co-written by Roberts and Barber, superstar artist Phil Jimenez provides layouts and covers for issue one, and variant covers for the whole series - as well as doing the art for the GENERATIONS action figure releases from Hasbro and planning the event from day one! Jimenez is joined by a who's-who of Transformers artists, including Robots in Disguise series artist Andrew Griffith, who provides finished art on the lead-off issue. According to Jimenez, "the script for #1 was probably one of the best I've worked from in years. Totally awesome stuff - I just hope people don't mind me butting in and adding my own two cents (or three) to this super cool universe. I think it all worked out pretty seamlessly, actually!"

This is an exciting time to be a fan of Transformers, with multiple series from IDW, fantastic toys and more from Hasbro. In that spirit, and in an unprecedented publishing move, Dark Cybertron comic books will be included in select GENERATIONS action figure releases from Hasbro, following their initial release from IDW. This is the first time that an entire mega-event has been distributed in such a way. "TRANSFORMERS fans are some of the most loyal and dedicated - but many of them have never seen our comics," says Barber. "Dark Cybertron will introduce these fans to the world of comics - and we can't wait to bring these new readers into the fold."
